It’s kinda cool how someone can just pop into your life all of a sudden and become so important to you within such a small amount of time. I think that’s what makes life so interesting though. There’s always a reason to be hopeful for the future because you never know what good things will come your way next.

sometimes you just need to listen to the same song for an entire week to truly heal

Will Graham not being scared of Hannibal, but so, so scared of loving Hannibal, being loved by Hannibal, wanting a life with Hannibal and what surrendering to that means about him. Gouging my eyes out btw.

tethered-heartstrings:

I find the contrast between Will and Hannibal’s imprisonment interesting. Will gets the bars and a clear muzzle, while Hannibal gets a glass front but a bite mask that occludes his face.

Will truly feels imprisoned there, in his mind. He feels trapped and out of control. He doesn’t belong there and he’s trying to prove his innocence. Shunned off into a corner almost to be forgotten. While Hannibal is on full display because he belongs there, he put himself there. He has nothing to hide anymore, people can see in perfectly. Will has bars he has to look through, partially obstructing his vision, trying to find the truth of what happened to him, muddied with interruption. You can reach through the bars to Will, and he can reach out to you. He wants support, needs to be reached, to be seen. Hannibal is behind glass. He can see perfectly. He’s not looking for support because he knows the truth, he knows he’s guilty.

Will’s cell is dark, there’s so much hiding in the cracks and umbra, so much to uncover about what truly happened and about himself. Hannibal’s cell is well-lit. There are no secrets, there are no shadows. He knows the crimes he committed. Will was desperately trying to remember, hoping he hadn’t committed the crimes for which he was being blamed. Hannibal’s memory was intact while Will’s were unreliable.

When people need to talk to Will, he is taken out of his cell to meet them somewhere, as if he has to put in the effort to be heard. People aren’t meeting him halfway. Whereas people meet Hannibal at his cell, speaking to him through the glass. They go to him versus the other way around. Both were deemed dangerous killers, but only Will gets ripped away from the only thing he could even marginally call his.

Will’s bite mask is transparent, as if he is not really a threat. People can see his teeth and realize he’s not a danger. A mask for show. Like it is part of the attire but not necessary. A requirement for display. But Hannibal’s is opaque, he’s the real threat. He will bite, he will consume, and do so with a smile. Will never gets to take off his own mask, relying on someone else to deem him safe enough. Hannibal gets the freedom to remove it himself. He is not safe, but he’s in control, as he always has been.
